American Politics - Ever feel like you need a bath???
I've been reading the articles and sometimes, for a lack of something better to do, listening to the presidential candidates spew their venom and preposterous claims.
Am I too old or pessimistic, but does anyone really subscribe to the BS that politicians offer up today?
Why would any self-respecting individual really seek a public office? Do you know of anyone beyond your small town officials who serve in public office solely because they want to do something "for the community"? And even some of those relish the notoriety and attention.
(Before going farther, this is NOT an endorsement of Mr. Obama.)
The most recent article was about Mrs. Clinton. She obviously thought the Democratic Party would fawn over her and unquestionably support her presidential run. Was she surprised when Barack Obama challenged her and even more astonished by his growing lead? You can bet your bippy she was.
Now, trailing in the polls and delegates, Mrs. Clinton is just beginning to realize that the American voting public understands there is another candidate, one who could just be less diabolical, less vindicative and less personally motivated. Is she conceding the nomination? Certainly not!
You can rest assured the Mrs. Clinton wants the brass ring, and will do anything, say anything, sacrifice anyone to become President. Mrs. Clinton's weakness is that many voters know and understand her - better than she realizes. Yes she has fooled a percentage of the people, but, thankfully, not nearly enough.
Kathleen Townsend, Lt. Governor under Paris Glendening, D-Maryland, thought she could waltz into the Governor's chair in Maryland. Maryland voters knew Mrs. Townsend too well. They knew that she was not only incompetent, but had achieved her success simply because she was a Kennedy. Even in a heavily Democratic state like Maryland, your name only goes so far.
I think the American voters have figured out Mrs. Clinton true abilities too. Perhaps hoping against hope, but we are gonna get one of the poll leaders. America just needs to survive whichever candidate wins. One heck of a choice, huh?
